New Year Resolution

2009 is here! Can't tell what will I experience and learn in this whole new year. Haha. Excited! Excited! lol

Well, let see. I'm about to declare my New Year Resolution. Since, I have labeled my New Year with a theme which is "Brand New Beat", that is inspired from BoA, I would have to make a resolution which is in a good agreement with it. Here goes!
  1. Push up CAP to a new higher value
  2. Learn/Experience 25 new things
  3. Blogged about something new every week
  4. Have a new hairstyle
  5. Make more new friends
  6. Sleep earlier
  7. Change my blogskin with the new one
  8. Have a new spirit towards the future challenge!
Woo Hoo! For additional information, another interpretation of resolution would lead to computer resolution. For this year, I would be using 1280 px x 800 px resolution. Haha.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

What happened to me in 2008?

This post is to remind me of the events in 2008 so that I would store them under "PRECIOUS MEMORIES" in my heart. Let the hymn begin.
  1. January 2008
I was busy preparing for NTU/NUS UEE. Although I have to keep up with my Chemistry Olympiad learning. Another good event this month would be the INAUGURATION of my class! UNLEASHED! Well, it happened on 19th January 2008. UNLEASHED!!!!!! WHO CARES!!!?? Woo Hoo! Even tough, there are only 5 teachers present at that night. I will never forget the joy and the scream we all shared! WE ARE ONE!
  2. February 2008
This is the month of NTU/NUS UEE. Well, to be honest, I'm perfectly not worried about anything UNTIL I thought about how IF i fail the test. So, my tips to my juniors would be: You fail, when you think so. Haha. Well, another stuff that I done would be a romantic Valentine Day. 1st anniversary to my relationship with Caterine. *love*
  3. March 2008
Actually, I want to use this month to enroll in a TOEFL Test. However, an unexpected news in January makes me cancelled my plan. Haha. This one full month, I spend it at Bandung to participate in 2nd National Training Camp for IChO. Haha. I aslo received news that I was accepted in both NTU and NUS. At NTU, I was given a place in Chemical Engineering. While at NUS, I was given a place in Science. Moreover, NTU offer me a scholarship interview. What a delight! The interview and its results are given in this month! Well, I failed to receive a scholarship from NTU.
  4. April 2008
I don't expect any wonderful news this month. However, I was told that now I was the top 4 in my Chemistry Olympiad. I would OFFICIALLY represent Indonesia in the 40th IChO held in Budapest, Hungary. What a happy person I am! Hahaha. Furthermore, I received email from NUS offering a scholarship interview to me. Wow! Success after failure. Hahaha. I have my school final final final exam this month. I also designed an album of my class this month. Well, I did it in haste. Haha.
  5. May 2008
This month is the month of tears and joy! As the farewell party for my school cohort of 07/08 will be graduated soon. The farewell party is themed "The Night of Starlight". Well, it is a touching moment to every audience present on that night. In this event, this is the FIRST TIME I apply wax to my hair to stylize them. In this month, I also maintain a stand at a Bazaar held by Tri Amal Group. Well, I make a wish in this bazaar by buying a balloon and tie a letter to it. On the letter, there goes my wishes. There is only 3 wishes. All of them are fullfilled. I feel very grateful!
  6. June 2008
I went to have an overseas holiday with my friends! This is damn nice holiday. However, my summer holiday would be the shortest one compared to the others because I would have to rush to Bandung for another Training Camp for IChO! Well, another incident popped out and it is better not to discuss this further as it has taught all of us a lesson. Then, I also noticed that I received SembCorp scholarship from NUS. Wow! I'm so happy at that time! Besides, I also really really cried this month. I just pressed sol-mi-fa-sol-mi-fa-sol...... And I cant continue it anymore as my tears cant be held by my eyebag. I really have to walk a seperate path with my friends. I really will cherish every second I spent with them on the past. Good or bad events, they are all worth unlimited value. My friends even held a sangwo party to bid me a farewell. How shouldn't I be touched? Thank you, my dear tomodachi!
  7. July 2008
Hard times! I went to Hungary to fight for my country in 40th International Chemsitry Olympiad. Well, I struggle and struggle till very end and wow! I won a gold medal! The first gold medal in Chemistry Olympiad for Indonesia. I really proud of myself as this Gold medal is not really born from my hardwork. I believe this is 99% percent born from my friends, relatives, parents and teachers supports. I really feel grateful to them! Thank you! I also went to Singapore in this month to continue my tertiary study. Well, another lesson learned from the orientation. Social networking is far more important than I have ever thought! I need to make friends! Not make myself more and more intelligent. That is not useful at all!
  8. August 2008
Days of lecture and tutorials in NUS has begun! I discovered myself has to be more independent and discipline because now I'm an undergraduate student. Not a high school student anymore. One of the adaptation syndrome that I experience would be the reminiscence of the past. You may browse the August archive of my blog and you will see some post referring to past events. What I learned this month would be: Life is not all about learning and having high grades. We must be active either physically or socially. We must participate actively in University events to really experience what we called diversity! As you know, experience is worth more than one teacher!
  9. September 2008
I become a cook-assistant for the FIRST TIME! Woo Hoo! I also attend my class reunion party at SENTOSA. Ahh. It feels so good to gather with my high school friends to have extreme fun! Hahaha. I also have an outing with SINGAPOREans for the FIRST TIME! For exact, they are the ones I met on IChO. Tee Hee. I also donated my blood for the FIRST TIME! I made a mooncake for the FIRST TIME!
  10. October 2008
I tasted a Indonesian food which is cooked in Singapore for the FIRST TIME! Haha. Well, this month, there is some of my Medan friends which are on their way to Australia come and transit at Singapore. I joined them to hang out around Orchard. One thing that I learned from this is that I feel that I have been bonded more and more closer to my friends than I have ever thought. If you asked me to accompany a friend 3 years ago, I would definetely prefer to study than accompany them. Well, I have...... changed.
  11. November 2008
I swear. This is the FIRST TIME I consider a poem is really really beatiful. Hahaha. It is the poem in Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core titled LOVELESS. I also addicted to Dao Xiang this month. I learned that we, as a fine with 2 hands and 2 legs human, must cherish what we already possess. If we encounter a failure, we should really cherish what we still have as they are not going away. I went to see a piano concert for the FIRST TIME! Woo Hoo! I also experience a 16SGD Ramen this month. Well, the flavor is worth such number. Hahaha.
  12. December 2008
Let see, reunion with friends in Medan has never been so sweet! I really love every second I spent with them. Woo Hoo! What I learned this month is the discplinary action I must apply to myself. If I aim to be a successful person I must do all my work before the deadline! Aiya! Dont Forget! I bought my brand new Nokia E66 this month! Woo Hoo! Professional phone for professional user. lolx!
Well, that's all what I think I could share with you, guys. Some might be censored for privacy. Hahaha. Well, what do you think? I will take this opportunity to bid a very warm THANK YOU for every people reading my blog until this line! Hahaha. Without you, what would I be?

Next, I would set my theme for next year! Year 2009!
"A Brand New Beat"
Inspired from BoA. Haha.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009! May the force always be with you!

Pending tasks

Just finished KE VII Hallplay Programme Booklet! Woo Hoo! And my NUS E-card assignment has been fullfilled as well. Let see, what is my remaining task:
  • KE PRESS task of Layout Design (4+6+8 pages)
  • Independent study of Organic Chemistry (Not yet started, but thanks to IChO, I already have a good grasp of it)
  • Independent study of Piano (I have learned the lead notes for Brave Fencer Musashi Night theme)
  • CAN RUN! Need to register for it
  • CORS Module Registration! This is the most thrilling task from all. Hahaha.
Okay. This is quite tough. But I will try to eliminate them one by one. Hahaha. I will come up with my New Year Resolution tomorrow. Hahaha.

NUS Semester One result!

Woo Hoo! Don't know what to feel, should I feel satisfied or not? should I feel happy or not? Ahh.. Whatever! Hahaha.

My NUS Semester 1 result has been announced and LUCKILY I obtained the Cumulative Average Point or CAP as high as 4.7. Here's the details:

CM1101 - A
CM1111 - A
MA1421 - A+
GEK1001 - B+
GEK1509 - A-

Confessions: Well, I'm really surprised that the mark for my GEK1001 is B+, which is higher than my expectations which is B. Haha. That one was a tough module. However, in its learning process, it is a damn fun module. Hahaha. Another surprising results would be my chem module. I actually target them to be A+ both, but it turned out to be A. Well, a minute amount of dissapointment arise. Hahaha. As for my GEK1509, the marks are lower than my expectations but it's okay because I don't really put a great amount of effort in this module. Hahaha. But, GEK1509 still teaches me enormous stuff about physics. Hahaha.

Conclusion: Okay, I admit it. My CAP is lower than my target CAP which is 5. Let see. If we calculate the error percentage, it would be 0.3/5 x 100% = 6%. The conclusion would be: I'm 6% missed from my target. Hahaha. 6% error in Chemistry is still considered acceptable. Haha.

That's all for this semester. Haha. What is my target for next semester? PUSH UP MY CAP! Woo Hoo!

QET Result

Today is the day where the QET result will be announced officially by NUS. I have just checked trough the website and I found that I fall into the people of BAND 3! Walao e! This means that my grammar mistake, misunderstandings in essays and common error has been fairly unaccepted. Therefore, I must take the module :ES1301 English for Academic Purpose next semester. Oh man. Can I survive next semester? I will be experiencing 6 NUS modules (in which 3 with lab session because it is my dear chemistry module) and 5 hall extracurricullar (KE7 Hallplay, KE7 Webteam, KE7 Press, KE7 Badminton, KE7 ELnD).

Wedding party?

Hahaha. I have just arrived home after attending wedding party of Tomy Widjaja and Chyntia Ang. Well, let me state this clearly and dramatically: THIS IS MOST AWESOME WEDDING PARTY I'VE EVER ATTENDED!

You know what, what makes this wedding party special? Well, it was held tonight at Selecta Royal Ballroom, the place where my Buddhist name is endowed to me and the place where our school farewell party is held. So far, three of them is an awesome party and events that has changed (influenced) me somehow. Selecta (I'm not sure, but maybe) is known for their professionalism in organizing such events so that the party went very good and smooth.

Let's start with the MC of the party itself. I already forgotten his name, but one thing I really notice from this guy is his language. Usually at the "so-so" wedding party I've ever attended, the MC always use Bahasa Indonesia first, then Mandarin. However, one thing that really make me "WHAT!?" in his appearance is that he used Bahasa Indonesia first, then ENGLISH! Walao! I'm very suprised! This is the first time I saw a wedding party MC speaking English to the audience! And not only that, the ENGLISH he spoken is damn fluent and clear. So professional. Four thumbs up for the MC! Well done!

Next is the stage and overall decoration of the ballroom. I must admit that the decoration is very professional as well. All the decoration is in 1 single theme. Judging from what I saw, I think the theme might be "Winter". Since, there is many ice and snow decoration starting front the receptionist until the stage. It's beautiful! Moreover, the stage also features drum, keyboard, organ, violin, guitar and a WHITE GRAND PIANO. I.... am..... Speechless..... Too amazing! Hahaha.
Winter decoration
Flower standings
White grand piano with its pianist and the person beside is playing violin

Okay, let me ask you this first. What does usually wedding party offer when the audience were eating? Well, you might answer like this: karaoke songs? dances? lucky draw?
Right, you are damn right. These are the stuff that occur in a "so-so" wedding party. However, I really grateful that I present on the party because most of the performance are performed by Era Musika teachers!!! Again, I prefer watching the performance to eating, which is occured very very rare!! Let me give you some performance that could stop me from eating: Exodus and Cubana (performed originally by Maksim) by Era Musika instrumental teacher, Broadway songs (somebody ever heard the song: Tonight? or Phantom of the Opera?) by Era Musika vocal teacher, Pop songs by Methodist 2 choir (4 thumbs up man!) etc. The occurence of chinese song vs western song is dominated by western songs! I think that is why I love this party. Hahaha.

I really love the performance, as we are watching a FREE CONCERT! Very professional performers are featured! (Of course, I think for the pianist performing in this party, they still could NOT beat NUS Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music students. But, Well done! I still love it! Hahaha.) Walao! Very nice! This is very very very memorable compared to boring old Chinese song that is brought by some old fashioned oldies (Well, this is what I think. Please respect my opinion. Hahaha) in the wedding party. In a usual wedding party, I usually prefer to eat rather than listening to those old songs. Yahhh.. Ain't my taste, buddy. Hahaha. But, I think the middle-aged audience might find it interesting. Hahaha.

Next, hmm.. I think I would like to comment on the last song they performed for us. Well, guess what? It is my favourite song! That's why when my family is about to leave, I told them all to sit down again because I want to listen to the song. Hahahaha. It is a veryyyyyyyyyy niceeeeeeee song brought by a veryyyyyy proooooo choir! hahaha. Okay, let me let the cat out of the bag, it is "Shou Qian Shou". Hahahaha.

Hahaha. That's all. Ohya, one interesting thing again. As soon as I opened my blogger dashboard, suddenly I noticed that Mr. Johan Rusli, my former physics tutor in Johnson Bimbel has also posted something about wedding party also in his blog. Hahaha. What a coincidence. hahaha.

Eh wait, one more thing to add. The MC also said an interesting stuff. He said that age is just a number which represent nothing. Hahaha. Well, this quote somehow inspires me to learn piano! I really want to play piano, but my mind is always full of busy schedule. I hope age is not a barrier as the MC state. I hope the MC is right. Hahaha.

INTER MESSO!
Mi Pansit Siantar at Jalan Sumatra Medan. Damn nice! Hahaha. I ate it recently.

Wuah.. Design Design and Design.. =.='

Busy week! =.='
I have to finish 2 animation e-card, 1 booklet and a few layout design by the end of this week. Whoa. Sounds tough. But I will do my best (SFX: Unwavering Spirit and Blazing Passion) Hahahaha.

Btw, last week, I'm working on my hallplay website at http://keviihallplay.com
This year, our hallplay committee will present Pygmalion, a play by Bernard Shaw. Haha.
I worked on the logo too. Hahah. Take a look!
How is it? Comments are strictly welcomed!

Take a look at the website if you got some time. Thanks! Hahaha.

First Outing in Medan

Okay! First outing in Medan since I came back from Singapore. Hahaha. Today, I planned to watch movie named "Twilight". Hmm, to tell you the truth, I have no idea about this movie. I perfectly cannot imagine what and how the movie would like.

That's my main objective for today! Hahaha. Well, 1st place to visit today would be SMU SUTOMO I HIGH SCHOOL. A nice place who shapes me today. I met my fellow teachers such as Mr.Manaek Nababan, my Physics teacher, Mr.Tjok Tjin, my Chemistry teacher and Ms. Tan Tjin Tjin, my Mandarin and English teacher! Hahaha. Well, I met some of my juniors there too, such as Ivana Polim, Billy "MO" Fernaldi, Jaslyn Pratiwi, Tiffany Tanoto and Gilbert. Hahaha. Well, I'll come back to see them again when Prajnananda arrives at Medan. Hahaha.
One of the reasons I must come back to Medan
What is my main objective at school? I want to taste one of the most delicious stuff in Medan. Nothing (and I mean NOTHING) in Singapore could beat this one! Hahaha. Kwetiao Char Kangkong Belacan Seafood! For 12 thousand Rupiahs only! Let us convert it to Singapore dollars. It is roughly 1.5 dollars only! And the satisfaction is surpassing the Singaporean dishes. Hahaha.

Next place to visit! JOHNSON BIMBEL! Hahaha. Actually, I came here without any primary objective. So... to prevent further embrassment, I came up with an objective. What is it? To look at my face on the photo. Hahahaha. Don't understand? Please look pictures below. Hahaha. We have a great talk with Ulina and Henny cc. Usual lah.. Gossips.. We also met our most wonderful Physics tutor, Mr. Johan Rusli. Pay a visit to his blog. Nice blog leh. Hahaha.
A picture which contains my face. Hahahaha.
Suddenly..........
After having a social party at JOHNSON, we went to SINAR KOTA, a wristwatch store of my friend. It is because Jacky wanted to buy a new watch for himself. And u know what? He bought two!?? What does that mean?? Hahahaha. I dont understand either. Abidin (my friend whose father own the store) has a hard time to deal with customers such as Jacky. Hahahaha.
Abidin Yunus (brown shirt) giving his best to serve Jacky (white shirt). Hahaha.
New wristwatch. Hahaha.
Before going to SUN PLAZA to buy our movie tickets, we went to FOTO KINA at ASIA MEGA MAS because Jacky got some business to do there. Hahaha. So we went there and on the way, I found myself is quite thirsty, so I went to buy some Sugarcane juice there. Hahaha. OKay, next paragraph! SUN PLAZA!
Sugar cane juice in Medan -> Rp.3000! Compared with 1SGD in Singapore. Hahaha.
Okay! At SUN PLAZA, we met (as planned) Lewis and we went to have our dinner at NELAYAN. I think NELAYAN got it's slogan as damn good food at damn good price instead of Botak Jones. Hahaha. Well, we ate and bought some games. Then, what do we do? Watch movie of course! Hahaha.
Start of the dinner! Teng!
Next stuff would be the movie review of TWILIGHT! Woo Hoo! Nice movie. Damn nice movie! I love it! I sense (by using the Force) that the movie has a very nice propotion of "action" and "romance". I think they put it in the most beautiful constant in the world, the Golden Ratio. And that's why, this movie is very great such that I have forgotten about the time when I watched the movie. It is just so awesome that I couldn't destroy my concentration to look at the watch for a while! As Mr.Johan Rusli said in his own blog, this is a perfect combination of "X-men" and "Titanic". Hahaha. I would absolutely agree with that! No objections! hahaha. Well, the only minus that I could conclude is the antagonist. I think the antagonist is "less" devilish. Hahahaha. Well, on overall rating. Vixklen would like to rate 4.5/5! Woo Hoo!

Welcome Home!

Last 3rd December was the day I went back to my hometown, the Metropolitan City, Medan. Well, the voyage started with the packing of my room in KE7 Hall. It was....... devastating. My room was filled with the dust particles generated naturally. It also make my room so bulky. Gotta plan next time when I packed stuff up. Hahahaha. Let us look at some photos.
First Exam Snack obtained from Hall and Faculty
2nd Exam Snack bought myself from Clementi
Sure heavyweight luggage! Ckckckc.
Catastrophic-level rubbish
The only thing left in my desk is........
Well, we all decided to go to Changi Airport, the 2nd most beautiful airport in the world, by MRT train! Woo Hoo! What a experience. Hadi Wijaya who suggests this idea has officially regret it because his stuff is too damn many! Hahaha. Well, my luggage is only a 25 kg bag with my laptop. Hahaha. We managed to get to the airport in one piece although when I looked at Hadi, he seemed to be exhausted. Hahaha. Nice2. Good experience. It wont happen for the 2nd time. Thank you. Hahahaha. As my former English teacher in Rainbow said "Try everything at least once". Hahaha. I interpreted her message as: "Make your life colorful!" Hahaha. OKay! Next thing, I experienced a 12-inch SUBWAY meal. Haha. Nice one! But around 10 dollars. >.<
My Luggage (DeLi) with Hadi's (the rest) @ LT27 Bus stop
12-inch subway meal @ Changi! Wa Lao! So nice!!!!
Right now, I am going to go to SUTOMO I High School on 12 PM. Jacky will fetch me and we will have a sightseeing and "silaturahmi" session. Hahaha. And I will (at last) taste the great great Kwetiao Char KangKong Belacan Seafood. Hahaha. I think I'm going to JOHNSON BIMBEL today too. But, I dunno. Not yet planned. Hahaha.

Oh, a very interesting thing that I have done in Indonesia would be CUTTING MY HAIR. Haha. Next time when my hair is long enough I would consider Hero JaeJoong hairstyle. I think it's damn cool! hahahaha.
My hair length in Indonesia. hahaha (I need half year to reach such length you know!)
Current hairstyle. Hahaha. (as accurate as 9 December 2008)
Target Hairstyle. Wakakakakakakakak. Just for fun!

My 1st semester in NUS

This post is to review the module that I have taken what is the best thing or the interesting thing or whatever. Haahaha.

Let's start with one of my core modules, CM1101. The principles of modern chemistry. It mostly tell us about the basic concepts we must possess in order to understand the complex chemistry of materials. Well, the best and the most useful thing that I learned in this module is the MO diagram. I found it very useful to review and establish the connection between chemical reactions and orbitals. MO diagram is a very good rough presentation of real-world chemistry. My knowledge of chemical bonding has been upgraded greatly in this module. Thanks to Prof. Bettens! He is such a smart guy with a good sense of humor. Hahaha. One thing that I found boring in this module is the tutorial question. You may assume safely that I have no intention to brag or something else. However, the tutorial question of this module is quite straightforward! I suggest that the tutorial for this module would have 2 kind of questions, one is the straightforward question and the other would be a challenging questions!

Next module is CM1111, The basic Inorganic Chemsitry. Good thing about this module is I have learned countless properties of basic elements in the main group. That's a good thing. Overall, this module is quite good actually. The tutorial questions are also quite challenging sometimes. This is why I always go to the tutorial class with smile. Hahaha. Okay, let's look at the bad thing. This year exam paper is quite straightforward as most of the answers are contained in the lecture notes. (Even though I don't get fullmark) I think I prefer exam question that require us to think instead of to memorize. Hahaha. Just my opinion. Hahaha.
LT27! Place where CM1101 and CM1111

Another core module, MA1421. Applied Mathematics for Science. To be honest, the lecturer is a very good lecturer. His "care-ness" level to the students is shared on the 1st rank with my human geography lecturer. Hahaha. He has a very good sense of humor. I love humorous teacher! Hahaha. Well, in terms of the difficulty, I would find this module is not so difficult to understand. However, when it came to the exam, you'd better prepare well. If you don't, you won't get A+ for sure. Well, the exam paper for this module is really my type which would be testing the students on the basic stuff, but its basic is so basic that people will never think about it. I love these kind of questions, because to solve them, besides we need to prepare well, we need to have a good night sleep. ^^

My GEM module this sem, GEK1001! Place, Environment and Society. I have given up my 250 bid points for this module and I absolutely dont regret it at all! It's a very fun module! The practical project is also fun! This module is 100% fun! Hahaha. (at least that is what I thought) Well, if I asked, I would state that the FASS teachers are good in terms of sense of humor. Hahaha. Taking FASS module would never be boring! (for Science nerds). Hahaha. Err, for the exam. Hahaha. We would have to do 4 qs out of 8 qs and each qs must be answered with around 2 pages of essay. Hahaha. Trust me, I BARELY finished the test yesterday!

Another GEM this year, GEK1509! Introduction to nanoworld! Hahaha. I learned and gained many stuffs about physics and the science of small things! Woow! Last time, the lecturer brought a tank of liquid nitrogen to the lecture theatre and he experimented magneto-levitation in front of us! Cool man! Haha. Another thing that I love about this module would be the lecturer. A middle-aged man and a wise man. Good combination! Hahahaha.
LT25! GEK1509 18.00PM-20.00PM

Well, that's the review. I would write another post about a certain module if time allow me to do so. Hahaha. Now, gonna compose next post. Hahahah.
