Almost the time for the graduate school and I am still completely clueless on the path that I should embark upon for my professional career.
Recent events (especially last year) had sparked my interest on Physics. Starting from attempting to have a taste of what college physics looks like during my exchange to Korea, I was totally mind-blown with the topics and the way my teacher taught me. My teacher, who was a Japanese nuclear physicist working at Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex, took a very good care of me and answered loads of my childish questions. He was indeed an excellent educator and researcher. My interest was pushed even more by my enrolment to a biophysics class by a French professor. Dazzled by a world that totally new (and strange at the same time) to me, I quickly gained interest in a branch of physics called spectroscopy.
I almost certain of my decision to pursue Physics for my graduate studies. However, a new series of events unfolds right in front of my eye this semester. I am currently a final year student and ought to complete a supervised research project as my graduation thesis. Interestingly, my professor gave me a freedom to set my own research direction as long as he approves. As the result, my interest had shifted towards where it used to be; Chemistry.
Perplexed by this interest shift, I am now totally left confused on my decision for my graduate studies. Oh man, could we just combine these two guys and call them “Phymistry” or something like that. Now, I need to go back to my GRE preparation and a lot of exciting Chemistry reading. =D
